FOCUS ON EC FAN ONLY
In the roaring factory workshops, industrial fans work tirelessly as guardians, constantly cooling down equipment and the workspace. However, the air in factories often carries moisture, and occasional liquid splashes can occur. These seemingly insignificant factors can become "fatal killers" for fans. Waterproof fans are designed and built to withstand direct contact with water and moisture, making them ideal for use in harsh outdoor environments。
Not only in daily life, but in modern industry and equipment, fans are essential cooling and ventilation unit, widely used in various scenarios. From outdoor equipment to industrial facilities and household appliances, the reliability and durability of fans are crucial. Waterproof technology, as a key means of protecting fans, is of paramount importance. This article will explore in detail the importance of waterproof technology for fans.
There are different methods used to achieve waterproof protection in fans, each with its own advantages and disadvantages.
Characteristics: AB glue has good adhesion and mechanical strength, and it cures quickly, making it ideal for fast production processes. However, it has poor thermal conductivity, and its performance may degrade in high temperatures or alternating high and low temperature environments. When customers are price sensitive, PBM uses this glue to waterproof parts of the motor
Usage Environment: Suitable for general electronic product potting, especially in cost-sensitive applications where environmental temperature changes are minimal, such as consumer electronics and household appliances.
Advantages: Low cost with good adhesion and mechanical strength, fast curing speed, suitable for fast production processes.
Disadvantages: Poor high-temperature performance, prone to failure under temperature fluctuations, easy to generate bubbles and cracks.
Characteristics:
The main raw materials of BMC are bulk prepreg composed of GF (chopped Glass Fiber), UP (unsaturated resin), MD (filler), and various additives. BMC material possesses outstanding high-temperature resistance and excellent electrical insulation, rendering it an ideal choice for high-temperature and high-pressure environments. Saturated polyester compound material is commonly applied in the motor industry as a substitute for metal to enhance not only motor technology but also cost competitiveness and improve the efficiency and yield of the motor and fan manufacturing processes.
Usage Environment: Appropriate for production environments demanding high-temperature and high-pressure resistance, such as the encapsulation of internal components for industrial electronic devices, including transformers, switches, and motor parts. The PCB board in the PBM EC Motor is coated with BMC to attain a waterproof effect.
Advantages: Exhibits good electrical insulation and mechanical strength, suitable for high-temperature injection molding, with low material and processing costs, providing high cost-effectiveness.
Disadvantages: Stringent processing requirements may cause damage to electronic components, especially electrolytic capacitors and enameled wires, thereby requiring careful design and production control.
Characteristics: Polyurethane potting glue has good low-temperature and shock resistance but poor high-temperature resistance, and its anti-aging and UV resistance are also weak, making it suitable for environments with minimal temperature variation and frequent vibrations.
Advantages: Good low-temperature resistance and shock resistance, flexible enough to buffer mechanical stress to some extent, reducing damage to internal components.
Disadvantages: Poor high-temperature resistance, prone to bubbling, uneven surface after curing, and weak anti-aging and UV resistance, requiring protection during use.
Characteristics: Epoxy potting glue cures into a hard plastic-like substance with fixing, insulating, waterproof, and moisture-proof properties. However, it has high internal stress and is prone to cracking under temperature cycling.
Advantages: Good adhesion, mechanical strength, and chemical resistance. Once fully cured, it offers insulation, waterproofing, and moisture-proofing, making it suitable for various environments.
Disadvantages: High internal stress, prone to cracking under temperature cycling, weak resistance to thermal changes, requiring design considerations for compensation.
Characteristics: Silicone potting glue offers excellent high and low-temperature resistance and outstanding electrical insulation, though it is expensive and has relatively poor initial adhesion, requiring special handling.
Advantages: Excellent high and low-temperature resistance (-50~200℃), superior weather resistance and electrical insulation, non-corrosive to electronic components, enhancing the stability of internal components, and repairable, facilitating maintenance.
Disadvantages: Relatively poor initial adhesion and high cost, suitable for well-funded applications with stringent performance requirements.
The core components of fans include motors and electronic control units, which are extremely sensitive to moisture and humidity. Waterproof technology prevents water from entering these critical components, effectively avoiding short circuits, corrosion, and other electrical faults, thereby significantly extending the fan's lifespan. The use of waterproof encapsulation and sealing materials ensures that the fans can reliably operate in humid environments, maintaining high efficiency.
PBM Waterproof motorized fans adopted leading external motor’s BMC(Bulk/Dough Molding Compounds) overmoulding stator to minimize metal material and motor weight as Ecology construction design compared to conventional EC external motor, offers further benefits when it was used in refrigeration, heating and ventilation applications, industries, products and systems. To arrive at lower nose and better efficiency new construction principles and materials, or components structures,so that there is excellent water and moisture resistance.
Fans operating in humid or wet environments without proper waterproof protection are prone to failures, leading to frequent downtime and high maintenance costs. Waterproof technology ensures that fans remain stable even in harsh conditions, reducing downtime caused by failures, lowering maintenance costs, and enhancing overall equipment reliability.
Waterproof technology allows fans to adapt to various harsh environments. For example, in outdoor equipment, industrial settings, medical equipment and agricultural facilities, fans may be exposed to rain, humidity, chemicals, and disinfectants. Waterproof design ensures that fans can operate normally in these environments, meeting the needs of different applications.PBM conventional motors use this material.
Humid environments often come with corrosive substances (like salt spray) and contaminants (such as dust and grime). Waterproof technology not only prevents water from entering but also blocks these corrosive and contaminating substances, protecting internal fan components from damage and extending the fan's lifespan.
Electrical equipment exposed to moisture can pose safety hazards, such as electric shocks and fire risks. Waterproof technology reduces these risks, ensuring the safe operation of fans. This is particularly important in high safety standard applications, such as medical equipment and public facilities.
Many industries and applications have strict regulations and standards for the waterproof performance of equipment, such as the IP (Ingress Protection) rating standards. Fans equipped with waterproof technology can meet these standards, ensuring compliance and competitiveness in the market. By achieving protection levels like IPX4, IPX5, or even higher, fans can maintain excellent performance in various environments.
