Celebrate Dragon Boat Festival with PBM Motor and Fan

The Chinese Dragon Boat Festival is coming. As a formal company manufacturing and selling EC motor fan, PBM Motor and Fan(Suzhou) Co., Ltd regulates employees will enjoy a 3-day holiday, from 9^th June to 11^th June. Many foreign friends do not know much or know a little bit about this Festival. PBM Motor and Fan would like to invite you to learn more about and celebrate this Festival together. Named “Dragon Boat Festival”, it does not merely include Dragon Boat Race.
 
Dragon Boat Festival, also called Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the lunar calendar. Together with Spring Festival, Qingming Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, they are four Chinese traditional cultural festivals.
 
There are different versions of the origin of Dragon Boat Festival. It originated in China. Initially, ancient tribe who lived along the Yangtze River and to the south held sacrificial rites by Dragon Boat Race. During the Warring States Period (475-221BC), poet Qu Yuan committed suicide by drowning himself in a river. Qu was a minister of the State of Chu situated in present-day Hunan and Hubei provinces. He was upright, loyal and highly esteemed for his wise counsel that brought peace and prosperity to the state. However, when a dishonest and corrupt prince vilified Qu, he was disgraced and dismissed from office. Realizing that the country was now in the hands of evil and corrupt officials, Qu grabbed a large stone and leapt into the Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth month. Nearby fishermen rushed over to try and save him but were unable to even recover his body. Thereafter, the state declined and was eventually conquered by the State of Qin. Rulers set the Dragon Boat Festival to commemorate Qu Yuan to spread spirit of patriotic loyalty.
 
On this day, people race dragon boats, praying for heavy harvest and good weather; people hand wormwood, iris onto the door in early morning to avoid illness(At that time, it is difficult to have medical treatment, not to mention modern hospital equipment-EC Fan Clean Room); Children wear five-color silk thread around their neck, wrist and ankle to avoid evilness and disaster.
 
During the Festival, the popular food is a glutinous rice pudding called Zongzi. It is eaten to symbolize the rice offerings to Qu. Ingredients such as salted meat, beans, lotus seeds and salted egg yolk are often added to the glutinous rice. The pudding is then wrapped with bamboo leaves, bound with a kind of raffia and boiled in salt water for hours. Foreign friends can try Zongzi. It is really delicious!
